How to buy from Shein in Nigeria (2026)

The short answer: Shein ships to Nigeria directly — no forwarder needed — with reported delivery of roughly 7 to 15 business days. So for a normal single order, order direct and keep your money. The real obstacle is payment: Nigerian cards are declined at Shein checkout more often than at almost any other store. Customs only enters the picture above the USD 300 de minimis threshold, which most single orders stay under.

Disclosure, and an unusual one: Senda is a shop-and-ship service, and this guide tells you that for most Shein orders you do not need us. That is deliberate. Recommending a forwarder for a store that already delivers to your door would be the kind of overpromising that got this market into trouble. The three cases where we genuinely help are set out below. Verified September 2026.

Shein ships to Nigeria, so start there

Set your delivery country to Nigeria in the app or on the site and Shein will quote you a delivery option to your address. Reported delivery windows sit broadly in the 7 to 15 business day range for standard shipping — see for instance this walkthrough of Shein ordering from Nigeria.

Treat any quoted window as an estimate. The variable is almost never the flight; it is customs clearance. A parcel pulled for inspection can add days, and clearance queues lengthen noticeably around Nigerian public holidays and in the late-year peak. If you are ordering for a specific date, plan on the top of the range and add a buffer.

The payment problem, which is the actual problem

Shein is one of the stores where Nigerian cards fail most reliably. Two things are going on.

First, the bank side. Nigerian banks largely suspended international transactions on naira cards from 2022, then reactivated them in July 2025 after roughly three years — reported by Nairametrics — but with spending caps that differ by bank and card type. So your card may work now, within a ceiling.

Second, Shein’s own screening. Even inside your cap, a first-time Nigerian card can be declined on an address mismatch or by fraud filters, with no useful explanation at checkout. The reliable workaround is a virtual USD card funded in dollars, which removes both the cap and your bank’s approval from the path. Our guide to declined naira cards works through every cause and fix in order.

What it costs, including customs

Worked with Senda’s published rates and the Nigerian charges in our customs duties guide. Clothing sits in the 20% duty band. Note that Shein parcels are usually light but bulky, and freight is charged on whichever is greater of actual and volumetric weight — a big soft-goods order can price above what the scale says.

A USD 80 order, 2 kg

LineHow it is worked outAmount
Shein order (FOB)What you pay the store$80.00
Senda shippingOur published rate for that weight$30.00
CIF valueFOB + freight$110.00
Import duty and taxesCIF is at or below the USD 300 de minimis threshold$0.00
Landed cost1.38x the product price$110.00

CIF of $110.00 is well under the USD 300 de minimis threshold, so no duty and no VAT. This is the ordinary case for Shein and it is why direct ordering is usually the right call.

A USD 400 haul, 8 kg

LineHow it is worked outAmount
Large Shein haul (FOB)What you pay the store$400.00
Senda shippingOur published rate for that weight$90.00
CIF valueFOB + freight$490.00
Import duty20% of CIF$98.00
Surcharge7% of the duty$6.86
CISS1% of FOB$4.00
ETLS0.5% of CIF$2.45
VAT7.5% of $601.31$45.10
Landed cost1.62x the product price$646.41

Now the threshold is behind you and the full stack applies, landing at 1.62x the product price. Two consequences worth planning around: the de minimis allowance is capped at four importations per person per year, and one large haul that crosses the line can cost more in total charges than the same goods split across two qualifying orders — legitimately separated in time, not artificially split, which Customs enforces against.

The three cases where a forwarder is worth paying for

  1. Consolidation across stores. Shein plus ASOS plus a US-only brand, arriving separately, means three lots of freight and three customs entries. One address, one parcel, one entry — and our per-kilogram rate falls as weight rises.
  2. You cannot get a payment through. If your card is declined and you do not want to set up a virtual card, a buy-for-me service pays the store and you pay in naira.
  3. You want the cost fixed upfront. Ordering direct means customs charges land on arrival. A forwarder that quotes product, freight and customs handling before you pay removes that surprise.

If none of those apply to your order, order from Shein directly. That is the honest recommendation.

Sizing and returns: the hidden cost

Shein sizing runs small and inconsistent between items, and this matters much more from Nigeria than from the US or UK, because returning anything is effectively not an option. Return shipping from Lagos typically costs more than the garment, and you would be re-exporting an item you already paid duty on.

So the practical advice is unglamorous: read the per-item measurement table rather than the S/M/L label, check the reviews with customer photos for fit notes, and size up on anything structured. Treat every order as final, because financially it is.

The short version

  • Shein ships to Nigeria directly in roughly 7 to 15 business days — order direct for a single order.
  • Fix the payment first; a virtual USD card is the reliable route.
  • Under USD 300 CIF you pay no duty or VAT, for up to four importations a year.
  • Use a forwarder only for consolidation, payment help, or a fixed upfront cost.
  • Buy on measurements, not size labels. You will not be sending it back.

Frequently asked questions

Does Shein ship to Nigeria?

Yes, directly. Unlike Amazon, Shein delivers to Nigerian addresses without a forwarder, and reported delivery windows are broadly 7 to 15 business days. The app works, checkout offers Nigerian delivery, and orders arrive at your door. That makes Shein one of the easier international stores to buy from in Nigeria, and it means you should not pay a forwarder for a straightforward single order. The part that trips people up is not shipping but payment: Nigerian naira cards are frequently declined at Shein checkout.

How long does Shein take to deliver to Nigeria?

Reported windows are broadly 7 to 15 business days for standard delivery, with express options quoted shorter. Treat any quoted range as an estimate rather than a commitment: the variable is usually customs clearance rather than the flight, and a parcel selected for inspection can sit for days. Plan for the top of the range if you are ordering for a specific date, and add buffer around Nigerian public holidays and the late-year peak, when clearance queues lengthen considerably.

Why does my card keep getting declined on Shein?

Shein is one of the stores where Nigerian cards fail most often. Nigerian banks resumed international transactions on naira debit cards in July 2025 after roughly three years of suspension, but with spending caps that vary by bank. On top of the cap, Shein runs its own fraud screening and can decline a first-time Nigerian card on an address mismatch alone. A virtual USD card funded in dollars sidesteps both the cap and your bank's approval, which is why it is the most common working answer.

Should I use a forwarder for Shein or order direct?

Order direct for a normal single order — Shein ships to Nigeria itself, and paying a forwarder to receive and re-send it adds cost for no benefit. A forwarder is worth it in three specific cases: you want several orders from different stores consolidated into one parcel and one customs entry; you cannot get a payment through and want someone to buy on your behalf; or you want the delivered cost including customs fixed before you pay rather than discovering charges on arrival.

Will I pay customs duty on a Shein order?

Only above the threshold. Since 8 September 2025 Nigeria has applied a USD 300 de minimis: consignments at or below that CIF value — the goods plus freight — clear free of duty and related taxes, for up to four importations per person per year. Most single Shein orders fall under it comfortably. A large haul can cross it, and once it does the full stack applies: 20% duty on clothing, a 7% surcharge on the duty, 1% CISS, 0.5% ETLS and 7.5% VAT on the combined total.
